Kanon Preview

I loved the series Air. Before I even corrolated what Key was and how rabid its fan base can be, I managed to catch a small show called Kanon. I kinda disliked Kanon. It felt like it was trying to tell a story, but I just couldn’t get past the character designs and poor production values that it had. After watching the short preview of the re-make (or do-over as I called it when I was twelve), I have high hopes that it will make me forget the Kanon that was on before. Kyoto animation, otherwise known as the same studio that produced Air, is on this as well. I have a show to look forward to this fall.

Magikano 10

Ayumi's hot for HaruoEnter...Neko Pantsu!!!

Um...my cat bit him?ecchi wind. Is this Love Love?

Our pantsu will make everyone hot...

Episode 10 of Magikano was pretty fun. Ayumi finds out why Haruo doesn’t immediately fall in love with her hot body. Haruo is desensitized to women. Apparently living around his three sisters with them running around half-naked all the time has done wonders for this new super power. It was only a matter of time before a harem anime actually tried to explain why the loser guy didn’t care when all of those boobs are put in his face. Nerves of steel. Rika breaks out a magic pair of panties that should help Ayumi win Haruo over so she can break her curse (see, I paid attention). Ayumi puts them on, and finds the new found neko pantsu (kitty panties) to have the astounding ability to talk. Hilarity ensues as the pantsu have the power to make anyone fall in love with Ayumi, so school is a bit of a problem. It’s even more of an issue when Haruo has to be the one to take them off.

I always wanted to know what a pair of panties thinks about. Well, no, really I haven’t been pondering that more than this episode……ahem, back to the review now. Nothing says love like the perverted pair of enchanted panties on you…oh damn.

I don’t think I can finish this seriously. It was quite funny, though.

Starting Shuffle

I just got a batch torrent of Shuffle! Being a little late to the game this season, I figure I’ll post more about it later this week as I watch more of it. I just watched the first episode, and I was really impressed with the animation and mostly impressed with the music. For a first episode it’s not too bad, we’ll see about the other twenty-three.

Magikano

What a lovely little harem anime this is.

For the uninitiated. Harem anime follows an average loser guy as several women throw themselves at him. Our loser hero is usually pretty clueless to the advances. Any number of plot devices can be used to initiate mischief, mayhem, and of course, fanservice. Magikano actually seems pretty light on the fanservice, but it’s there. Anyway…

Our hero in this show is Haruo Yoshikawa. He’s an average high schooler with three lovely sisters: Chiyaki, Fuyuno, and Maika. Haruo has no idea that his three sisters are actually witches, since they try really hard to not use their powers in front of him, and when they do, they just erase his memory. Enter Ayumi Mamiya. She’s billed as the evil witch, but all she really wants is Haruo’s latent powers to awaken. I’m not sure why just yet, but I also may not have been paying full attention either. It’s a harem anime so there are more girls than mentioned above, like Yuri Kurosu the student council president with eyes for Haruo, and Masuzu Nijihara the crusader out to eradicate all witches, particularly Ayumi (she has her work cut out for her, since it seems that all the girls in the show are witches).

Something about this show has just drawn me in. I just like it. What I do know did not draw me in is the voice actor for Haruo. Other than that the character designs are very nice, animation average to above average, and my favorite part, the sales pitches. The show always has some off the wall product placement in the middle of the show somewhere, it’s plot related, but not related to the plot moving forward. It’s a nice addition that adds some humor. The ads always feature some insane price for the product and comes all inclusive with a fake web address as well. The voice actresses are spot on with their performances, and lend themselves very well to the characters that they are playing. Ayumi’s seiyuu (Nogawa, Sakura, who also sings the opening song) does a fantastic job and can go from lovey dovey to pissed in about .5 seconds. Which leads me to what I think makes the show so good. It’s the fact that everyone’s character is unique, which is a really good thing.
This show has managed to hold my interest in it quite well, which I can’t say that much harem anime ever has.

Changed due to comment spam

Welcome to Kimagure Anime Blog,

This blog is sort of new, yet sort of not. Below this post are most of my imported entries from my old anime blog, ported to the illustrious WordPress software.I’m excited to be here and look forward to entering the Anime blogosphere for real this time.

A short note: I learned something from my previous blogging experience. Episode by episode blogging doesn’t work well for me. Likely you’ll be seeing batch commentary on several episodes and slightly longer entries than episode by episode afforded me in the past.

So, in the coming weeks/months/years, I hope you enjoy reading this little slice of life. I will certainly enjoy writing and sharing with the community.

Thanks for reading.
