Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
The good anime continues this spring with this H-game turned anime chock full of cute girls, sailor suits, sleepy villages, and disturbingly killer loli’s. Had I not seen the first 30 seconds or so of the first episode, I think I would’ve been misled into thinking this show was just another silly game turned anime like Shuffle (which I still haven’t got past episode 3, maybe I really should just give up on that). Boy would I’ve have been wrong. What follows is mystery, schizophrenia, possession, and finally death. Now people don’t just die, there are these things that happen along the way that just aren’t quite right, and shouldn’t be. The possession is one thing, but a simple “I’m sorry” turns out to be one of the most creepy things I’ve watched in some time. Since I hate the occult so much you figure I’d not watch this, but this is more a psychological mystery with some demonic possession thrown in rather than, “Look I’m a vampire, aren’t I cool!”
The result is pretty damn good. I will admit to watching this at night before bed and not being able to sleep right. And the great thing is, this looks like it will continue to get better and better.
Ouran High School Host Club
I initially avoided this entry, mostly because other blogs just didn’t make it seem interesting. Then as I read more, my interest was peaked. So I download a few to check it out, and am still indifferent about it. Maybe I was drawn in by the fact that the main character is named Haruhi, but who really knows. While I’m indifferent about the show just two episodes in, I’m also strangely fascinated by it. I guess we’ll see where this one goes.
Girl’s High School
I watched one episode of this. It was stupid. Pantsu shots galore, and a bunch of stupid girls is what I saw. Between the poor animation and the character designs I don’t care for, I think I’ll relegate this to the circular file.
Fanservice is one thing, but this was just bad.
