No more of this please

This fall season is one of the most active that I’ve had in both blogging and actually watching. I usually watch 4-5 series a season, and this fall I easily checked out about 15 of them. Not everything gets to stay and I’ve officially dropped two shows from the watch list.

With that said: Sayonara Tenpou Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi and Happiness.

I just couldn’t get into Ayakashi. And to be honest I haven’t been too impressed with any series done by Bones aside from RahXephon. And I figure I’m the only one here that liked RahXephon.

Happiness was most likely too much harem anime in one season, but even with the entertaining Jun, this just didn’t cut it. That, combined with Artland being at the helm of the show pretty much killed it for me.

More on the rest of the stuff that I’m continuing to watch later.

Happiness (traps part 1)

How many men are in this picture?

Last fall there seemed to be an overabundance of vampire shows that came out in the fall. This year, cross dressing seems to be the big theme. At least that’s what we think. Enter Happiness. This show looks pretty cliche from the beginning. Oh look the school burned down and now our elite school of magic using cuties will have to hang with the commoners. My memory of this is kinda thin, which is probably not a good sign.

Things I noticed:

Animation production by Artland. I feel I must quantify this one. What I expect to see, are the lack of eyes on all character by episode 3. In the first episode everyone had eyes so the budget is likely gone, or will be shortly.
Yet another show where a girl meets a guy that did something cool a long time ago, and neither party can remember the full details of what happened. I want to say that this is the fifth show I’ve seen this fall that has this concept in it. Maybe Pumpkin Scissors isn’t that bad.
The show features a trap. Jun is not what she seems to be, not really a surprise since they tell you as much in the first episode. Although he’s so convincing the elite magic using babes from the burned up building don’t know it yet. I hope some hilarity ensues when Mr. Winky gets revealed.

Yeah, I’m going to continue this. I’ve seen no reason not to at this point. The game this show is derived from seems highly regarded, so there may be something good to come out of this. With Artland’s famous production values this could suck a lot. Unlike Bokura Ga Ita, the home of the no-eyed talking heads, this one lacks the vocal talent that keeps that show watchable, even though the visuals suck.
